Douglas fireplace

Traditional and timeless, the Douglas silhouette is instantly recognisable and never grows old. Defining the Douglas is the versatile profile. Arriving as a bare concrete shell, your fireplace is a blank canvas inviting your unique expression. Plaster then paint in any colour you like for a feature finish or clad in shist or river stone for a more natural finish.

Perfectly proportioned, this design suits any outdoor area while providing a relaxing focal point all-year-round.

Fireplace features

The Douglas has an undeniable presence in any outdoor area. Equally modern and traditional, its shape is complemented by the wide range of available accessories.

GRC wood boxes

The Douglas fireplace has the option to have either 500mm or 800mm wide GRC concrete wood boxes. These are lightweight and sit beside the fire to provide wood storage and often complete the look of the fireplace.

Chimney cap

The cap on the chimney is stainless steel which helps to arrest any sparks and prevent rain from going down the chimney.

Hearth

The hearth on the front of the fireplace completes the look of the fire and also helps to catch any stray coals that may fall out. The hearth is available in either GRC concrete or in a polished concrete finish providing a stunning feature on the fireplace.

Mesh door

The mesh door is a galvanised perforated steel, painted black to match the firebox. This is a great addition if you are needing something to put on at the end of an evening to stop any sparks coming out and causing a fire hazard.

FAQ

Can’t find your answer here? We might have already answered your question under our FAQ page.

How far can a hiab reach with the Douglas?

Depending on where you are located and available hiabs, they can generally be lifted up to 20 meters.

Will the firebox rust?

We expect there to be surface rust however the firebox is built out of 6mm steel and with a double skinned back plate so will never rust out. We have been providing fireplaces for over 14 years and have never had to replace one. If you give it a quick paint touch up every 6-12 months, this will keep the firebox looking like new.

Does a steel firebox put out much heat?

Yes absolutely. Due to the design of the steel firebox with its top and back baffles, not only will you get plenty of heat out of it but you will also find it a lot more efficient than a traditional brick fire.
